Las Vegas Qualifier 2007

Tab’s nickname is the Jovial Geordie. Jovial meaning likes a laugh, usually at someone else’s expense (ask anyone who has been caught by one of his pranks). Geordie for the part of the North East where Tab comes from.

Tab comes from the North East of England. He was born in a fishing village called Seaton Sluice, and is proud of his North Eastern heritage.

He played his first super league game for Crook Town Cricket club in the Durham County super league, a team full of County players (including England International Doug McCarthy) in 1979. Tab was selected to play for County Durham that season and played for a couple of seasons before moving to his home County of Northumberland, playing his first season for the Seahorse super league team in Whitley Bay. After just five games in the super league, Tab was selected to play for the County against Durham, winning the B side Man of the Match trophy.

In that season the Seahorse also won the super league and Tab qualified for the Winmau World Masters play offs, losing to Les Wallace in the third round. Tab was also runner up in the S.L. averages to John Fail in that season .

Then, after several seasons at Alnwick super league he moved to Newcastle’s Old Hall team. They had four years of success.

After a years break from darts, Tab moved to Tyne and Wear County. While playing for T&W he lost in the qualifying final of the Embassy play offs to reach the World Finals. Another disappointment as Tab had lost at the same stage twice while playing for Northumberland.

National success came when Tab teamed up with his mate Gary Curry and the pair took the British Gold Cup, beating the England pairing of Martin Adams and Dave Routledge on the way .

Its over 30years since Tab won his first darts award playing for a team in Arrow, Alcester, near Market Harbourough, for a 153 finish best in the league that year.

The prize was a voucher for a set of Tungsten darts from the local sports shop, so out went the brass darts in came the Tungsten.

Tabs first County game was in the County Durham "b" side away to Derbyshire at Matlock Bath, which he won 2-1 with borrowed darts as he had left his at home.

With over twenty five years of County darts and also travelling to competitions throughout the UK, Tab met some great people and made a lot of friends. Some of whom would wish they had not met Tab, after the pranks he played on them!

 SEATON SLUICE SOCIAL CLUB:

Three years before Tab made the move to Spain he returned to his home village of Seaton Sluice to play for the social club on a monday night.

Tab enjoyed the three years at the club playing for the team.

While playing for the Sluice team Tab won the Northumberland C.I.U. singles at North Shields and a good night was had by all.
